 Metal Clay Process

Metal clay is a clay-like medium of microscopic metal particles, organic binders and water. Each piece is composed of hand built components with a combination of techniques including texturing sheets of clay and sculpting. Once a piece is assembled, it is dried to remove moisture then placed in a kiln for firing. During firing the binders are burned off and the remaining metal particles fuse together in a process called sintering. The resulting metal piece can be polished and stones set using traditional metalsmithing techniques.
